You know, I kept a blog in high school. (Don’t bother looking, I deleted it a LONG time ago. It was scandalous.)

The only reason I think I wrote in it consistently was that I was fairly sure there were approximately 5 people reading it, and I only knew 3 of them in real life.

The fact is, I’m shy! Or not shy, exactly, but I have some kind of non-stage stage fright. (The Internet counts as a kind of stage though, right?) I don’t know, maybe it’s optimistic of me to assume there are more than 3 people reading this one.

Here’s something I used to do on my high school blog every once in a while to see who was reading it: I used to tell everyone to comment if they read it, just so I knew. I suppose I could try to make the whole thing more interesting by offering…prizes or something? Ok, here’s what I’ll do: if you leave a comment, I’ll send you a coupon code for a free pattern.

A lot of people (actually just my mom) has been harassing me about the status of several hibernating designs, which have slipped through the cracks for no reason that I can articulate. I had some writing work to do—have I ever told you guys about that? Some of you guys? It takes a minute to explain.

There’s this little publishing company, and they’re a small developer. They have clients like Scholastic and McGraw Hill and they come up with a program they want to implement and then the developer is in charge of developing content for the program (at least, that’s how I understand it. Too many moving parts). Like, sometimes it’s vocabulary tests or “unit assessments,” sometimes it’s web content, sometimes it’s teacher’s plans, sometimes it’s glossaries. Sometimes it’s even passages like sample point/counterpoint essays for 5th graders. That’s where I (and a bunch of other freelance writers) come in. I do that stuff. Anyway, I had just come off a few weeks working for them and I’ve been kind of a slacker lately.

The point is, I’m going to try to be better about blogging. I know I say that a lot, and there’s nothing especially different about this time, but still, I’m going to try. 🙂

  1. Yes, I read your blog through Ravelry friends. Our guild had you visit us in Toms River, NJ. I love your designs.

  2. I completely understand the desire to know that there is someone out there reading what you’ve written!
So, I’m here, and I’m reading.

  3. Found your blog after admiring some of your shawl patterns recently. I like that you write honestly. None of us are perfect so I enjoy authenticity and not being judgemental. Hope that you continue post and I will continue to check in and read.
